Dr. Vasquez grew up in the Rio Grande Valley before attending the University of Texas-Austin where she received a bachelor’s degree in radio/television/film. She worked in the local Austin film and video industry until her love of animals and science led her to enroll at Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She participated in veterinary student exchange programs in California as well as Brazil. Dr. Vasquez received her veterinary degree from Texas A&M University and then completed a small animal internship, neurology/neurosurgery residency, and a master’s in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Missouri. Her research involving the development of electrodiagnostic techniques in dogs won the 2010 ACVIM Forum Resident Research Award in Neurology. Dr. Vasquez became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology) in 2011. Throughout her travels, Dr. Vasquez always dreamt of returning to Texas. For the past seven years, she has practiced in Houston. She is excited to return to Austin, a place she has thought of as her second hometown. Dr. Vasquez enjoys reading science fiction, scuba diving, and snorkeling, traveling, and spending time with her family, two dogs, and two cats.
