Ty Johnson was born and raised in Victoria, TX. At the age of 13, he began volunteering at a local Zoo where he was given the opportunity to hand raise and train some of the zoo animals used in the educational classes. At 16, Ty signed on as an employee of the zoo and continued his work as a zookeeper/handler. After completing high school, Ty moved to Austin to continue his work in the animal field. He worked as a veterinary technician at local veterinary hospitals until he became a surgery technician at Central Texas Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital. This was where he found his true calling in the field of Animal Rehab. Ty completed the certification program at the University of Tennessee in 2007 and became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner as well as the Rehabilitation Director at CTVSEH. Ty continues to expand his knowledge of animal rehab by attending continuing education classes at A&M University as well as the yearly Symposium on Therapeutic Advances in Animal Rehabilitation in Florham Park, NJ. In his free time, Ty enjoys hiking with his dogs, biking around Austin, playing kickball and attending live music shows and festivals.
