Inflammatory Bowel Disease

A 3-year-old Labrador retriever presented to the Internal Medicine department for evaluation of an acute onset of a cough immediately after field trial training. Physical examination was unremarkable other than a persistent dry cough during the examination. Thoracic radiographs were unremarkable. Bronchoscopy was subsequently pursued and a foreign body was identified in the right secondary bronchus associated with the right middle lung lobe. The foreign body was successfully endoscopically retrieved and identified as a blade of spear grass upon removal.
